Course Overview

The 2nd Athens Head & Neck Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Cadaver Course (AHNAP) is a focused, hands-on educational event organized by the Hellenic Society of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (HESPRAS), in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy, School of Medicine, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Conducted at the Department of Anatomy, School of Medicine, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, the seminar combines detailed anatomical dissection with practical aesthetic plastic surgery concepts for the face and neck, through supervised dissection on fresh frozen cadaveric specimens, ensuring a high level of hands-on training, with two participants per specimen to maximise anatomical exposure and precision.

The course is designed to strengthen anatomical understanding, refine surgical planning, and support safer, more predictable outcomes in aesthetic plastic surgery procedures of the head and neck.

Who Is This Course For?

Designed for plastic surgeons who wish to refine their knowledge of facial anatomy and improve the safety and predictability of their face and neck procedures.

Key Learning Objectives

Participants will deepen their understanding of surface and deep facial anatomy, correlate anatomical landmarks with aesthetic plastic surgery procedures, and enhance their ability to plan treatments that minimise complications and optimise outcomes..

Educational Format

The seminar combines concise lectures, step-by-step anatomical demonstrations and supervised cadaveric dissection, ensuring that every theoretical concept is immediately translated into practical, hands-on experience.

Hands-On Cadaveric Practice

Each participant works directly on cadaveric specimens, with two participants per specimen, allowing optimal hands-on experience under close faculty supervision.

Complication Prevention

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on recognising danger zones, protecting critical neurovascular structures and incorporating strategies that reduce the risk of intra- and post-procedural complications.

Professional Networking

The course provides a unique opportunity for professional interaction among plastic surgeons from different countries and backgrounds, fostering academic exchange, collegial communication, and the development of international professional connections within a focused educational environment.

Foundational Lectures

Short, focused lectures introduce key anatomical concepts, aesthetic plastic surgery indications and safety considerations, preparing participants for the hands-on sessions.

Guided Cadaveric Dissection

Under expert supervision, participants follow a step-by-step dissection of the face and neck, correlating anatomical layers with common aesthetic plastic surgery and reconstructive procedures.

Clinical Translation & Discussion

The anatomical findings are linked to real-life clinical scenarios through case discussions, treatment planning exercises and practical tips that can be immediately applied in everyday practice.
